    When visiting New Zealand in May, you'll find music is on the menu on broadcast media and showcased in live performances. Originally launched in 1997 as New Zealand Music Week, the celebration's name changed in 2001 to New Zealand Music Month. The goal of the festivities is to increase the visibility and success of home-grown New Zealand music. The monthlong celebrations have paid off in increased sales of New Zealand music.
