The World Health Organization studies the air quality in 3,000 cities. At the time of the 2016 measurements, Onitsha, a rapidly-growing city in Nigeria, recorded roughly 30 times more than the WHO's recommended levels of pollution particles. Peshawar in Pakistan came in at second place, followed closely by Zabol in Iran.
