What did McDonald's originally sell?

  • Solely hamburgers and cola
  • Sit-down Barbecue correct

In 1940, after failing in show business, two brothers Maurice and Richard McDonald decided to open up a barbecue restaurant in San Bernardino, California. It failed. They closed it. For three months the restaurant went through a huge renovation and became the tycoon of all major restaurants trading paper for silverware and pounding out hamburgers, french fries, shakes and cola. One day they went to buy a new shake-maker from a man named Ray Kroc whose face dropped when he saw how the business did. Eventually, he purchased the franchise in Des Plaines, Illinois and bought out all of McDonald's for $2.7 million and the rest is, well, pure gold. History.com
