Each of the Earth's seven continents has at least one desert region, except Europe. Europe's distance from the Equator plays a factor in its lack of a desert area. The bodies of warm water surrounding the continent also contribute to the continent's higher yearly rainfall amounts. For those who would argue that Antarctica has no desert: based on the definition of a desert, Antarctica does indeed qualify as a desert. The barren land of the southernmost continent receives a negligible amount of precipitation each year. Source: Reference.com; WorldAtlas.com
