Who was the first host of The Tonight Show?

  • Johnny Carson
  • Jack Paar
  • Wilton North
  • Steve Allen correct

"This program is going to go on forever". That was the line Steve Allen used when first describing the new late night show called "Tonight!" which would air between 11:30 pm and 1:00 am on NBC. Later, the name would be changed to the Tonight Show. In the pilot episode, Allen describes Tonight! as "a mild little show" and says it isn't particularly "spectacular". However, 62 years, 6 hosts, and literally countless guests later, the show is still alive and strong. And thanks to TiVo, most of us can actually watch it at a prime time slot! Source: Variety
