Where did landmark blues musician Robert Johnson make his first recording?

In 1936 Johnson traveled to San Antonio, Texas to record for the first time. The singer-guitarist cut 16 songs in a rented room at the Gunter Hotel, including blues standards such as "Cross Road Blues" and "Sweet Home Chicago." Johnson returned to Texas one year later, this time landing up in Dallas where he would make 13 more recordings. These proved to be his final recorded works. Johnson died in 1938 at the age of 27.
