    A group of zebras is called a “dazzle”, “zeal” or “herd”. Fittingly, during World War I, ‘dazzle camouflage’ was used by the U.S. Navy to disguise warships. It was not used as camouflage, but, much like zebras in a dazzle of stripes, it made it difficult for the enemy to estimate a ships’ type, size, speed, and heading.
