The world's tallest recorded man in history was Robert Wadlow from Illinois standing in at a whopping 8 feet and 11.1 inches tall. Wadlow suffered from hyperplasia of his pituitary gland which basically means that he had uncontrollable growth. He toured with the Ringling Brothers and the International Shoe Company before his death in 1940 at the age of 22.
