How many years until the sun dies?

  • 200,000
  • 1 million
  • 500 million
  • 5 billion correct

If you are having a bad morning, we are about to make it a little worse. In about 5 billion years, the sun will die and our planet will cease to exist. That shouldn't sound like too much of an issue, right? Well, that's not the beginning of our worries. In just one billion years, the sun will be so hot it will literally boil the oceans, so that's fun. Some have even suggested that we have far less time than that here on Earth since the interactions between the heating planet and the rocks, oceans, and plate tectonics will dry out the planet even faster. But we do still have about a billion years left, so you may want to start recycling, anyway. Source: Physics.org
