How many steps does it take to reach the top of The Empire State Building?
From the lobby of the Empire State Building to the 86th floor, there are 1,576 grueling steps. There is actually something called the Empire State Building Run-up where athletes see who can reach the top in the shortest amount of time. The only athlete to ever finish the race in under 10 minutes is an Australian cyclist named Paul Crake. He set the record time of 9 minutes and 33 seconds in 2003.
