How many people in the U.S. live below the poverty level?
- 3 million
- 10 million
- 30 million
- 45 million
At the end of last year over 15% of Americans were living below the poverty line which is up from the previous two years. 7 million of them are children living in extreme poverty. It is the lowest we have seen since the 1960's and many are contributing it to Clinton's 1996 welfare reform which makes it difficult for many families to receive cash assistance. Let's be honest, we can point fingers all day at who is at fault but the truth is, millions of Americans are living below the poverty level and that is an issue. Source: U.S. Census Bureau
